This morning, the mayor of Belley, Dimitri Lahuerta, welcomed representatives from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and the State to visit the renovated Sports Plain.

This morning, Dimitri Lahuerta, mayor of Belley, welcomed Nicolas Daragon, Vice-President of the Region in charge of finance, and Louis-Xavier Thirode, Prefect of the Ain department. The visit focused on the sports facilities renovated as part of the « Sports Plain » project. They were accompanied by Myriam Keller, regional councilor, and Pauline Godet, president of the Community of Communes Bugey-Sud.
The first three phases of the project have led to the creation of a 6,000 m² free-access practice area, including a pump track, skatepark, 5-a-side football pitch, workout modules, and a park. The complete renovation of the Diano stadium (rugby), Chastel stadium (athletics and football), and Coiffet stadium (football) was also completed.
This project benefited from significant financial support from several partners: the Feder, a European fund managed by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the State, and the City of Belley.
Nicolas Daragon described the achievements as 'exemplary,' a sentiment echoed by the Prefect who highlighted their contribution to 'the attractiveness of the territory.' The mayor expressed his satisfaction at being able to 'offer sports facilities worthy of the City and Bugey-Sud, accessible to everyone.' He added that these facilities will 'promote our sports policies focused on sport for all, training, and health.'
The visit concluded with a tour of the Bugey-Sud aquatic center, scheduled to open on October 19. The total cost for the 3 phases of the Sports Plain project amounts to 6.775 million euros excluding tax, distributed among the Feder (€2.5 million), the State (€1.34 million), the CCBS (€300,000), the Department (€171,000), the Amateur Football Aid Fund (€14,000), and the City of Belley (€2.6 million).
