Eleven young municipal councilors from Saint-Alban-Leysse held their first session, tackling various topics and demonstrating their civic engagement.

The first session of the Youth Municipal Council (CMJ) in Saint-Alban-Leysse took place this Saturday, October 3rd, at the Centre de Culture et de Loisirs. It marked the beginning of a concrete citizenship experience for eleven young residents aged 9 to 12. The topics discussed were numerous, ranging from safety around schools to the creation of a community garden, as well as school bullying and discarded cigarette butts.
Accompanied by a group of elected officials, Christian Clementi, the delegated municipal councilor, led the meeting. The mayor, Michel Dyen, opened the session, enthusiastically highlighting the youth's participation: « Many of you wanted to participate in this Youth Municipal Council, and that's very good news. It shows that the young people of Saint-Alban-Leysse have ideas, desires, projects, and above all, they want to get involved in the life of their commune. »
The CMJ offers young councilors a unique opportunity to propose their ideas, listen to others, debate, and build projects together over two years. Christian Clementi described this first session as « very promising », noting that « despite their young age, the children are full of resources and ideas, with genuine quality of exchange and great respect for one another ».
To commemorate this inaugural event, the commune gifted each young councilor a kit in the colors of Saint-Alban-Leysse, including a bag, T-shirt, reusable cup, and small stationery supplies. The young councilors will meet again on Saturday, November 14th, for their second session, and will be presented to the « adult » Municipal Council on Wednesday, November 18th.
