The municipality of Le Bourget-du-Lac has joined the national mobilization for 'Octobre Rose', the month dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer screening and fundraising for research. The town hall and a local roundabout have been illuminated in pink to mark their support for this essential cause.
The municipality thanks its elected officials from the health department and the technical services building team for their involvement in this initiative. Pink ribbons are available at the town hall reception, while stocks last.
Each year in October, this awareness campaign reminds us of the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, accounting for 33% of new cancer cases. Early detection facilitates treatment and can limit the long-term effects of therapies. Organized screening, fully covered by health insurance, is recommended for women aged 50 to 74 every two years. From the age of 25, an annual clinical breast examination is advised.
In 2023-2024, the participation rate in organized screening in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes was 51.7%, highlighting the need to continue mobilizing the population. More information can be found on the depistagecanceraura.fr website.
