With over 20 researchers involved and a cumulative total of more than 650 participants across three sites, the 5th Night of Researchers, organized by the Savoie Mont Blanc University on Friday, September 25, 2026, was a significant success.
The event, dedicated to science popularization, took place simultaneously in Chambéry (Eurêka science and culture center), Annecy (La Turbine sciences), and Bourg-Saint-Maurice (Artistic and solidarity wasteland).
The common objective of the three events was to facilitate interaction between the research community and the general public, spark curiosity, and encourage exchange.

In Chambéry, the Eurêka center hosted numerous mini-conferences from 5 PM to 10 PM, introduced by students from the Heritage and Museums master's program at the USMB's Faculty of Arts, Languages, and Humanities. The evening's theme, 'The Power of Attraction,' echoed the exhibition 'Magnetic, the Power of Attraction,' inaugurated that same evening at 6 PM.
In Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the theme 'Exploring the Night' brought residents together at the artistic and solidarity wasteland, a former military site now repurposed for culture. This space also hosts USMB researchers twice a year for the 'Amphis Pour Tous et Toutes' (Lectures for All) series.
In Annecy, the evening at La Turbine sciences began with the inauguration of the 'Mathissime' exhibition and continued with conferences covering diverse topics such as artificial intelligence, climate change, earthquakes, mental health, and the quality of Alpine lakes.

The artistic and solidarity wasteland in Bourg-Saint-Maurice also welcomed two high school classes from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. They had the opportunity to discover concrete examples of research conducted at the USMB's Processes, Energy, and Buildings laboratory (LOCIE), with interactive stands on energy, air quality, and material stress analysis. Representatives from the European university alliance UNITA were also present, offering a fun workshop on Europe for the students.
