A significant technical operation took place on Thursday, September 17 at the Gymnase des Versants d'Aime with the replacement of a 100 kW wood boiler by a new 170 kW installation. Weighing 2.5 tons, the new boiler was installed using a crane truck, requiring rigorous organization to ensure student safety and minimize disruption to the gymnasium and college activities.
This new installation complements an existing 200 kW wood boiler, bringing the total combined power to 370 kW. This will enable the biomass heating of the sports complex and the Collège Jovet d'Aime starting this winter. This connection is part of the initiative led by the Département de la Savoie, aiming to phase out fuel oil by 2030.
This operation is part of the environmental commitment of the Communauté de Communes des Versants d'Aime and marks a first step in the project to create a heating network in the town center of Aime, developed with the operator Alpes Chaleur. This project follows the signing, last February, of a 20-year public service delegation contract for the creation and operation of this network.
By 2027-2028, this heating network aims to progressively increase the use of renewable energy for heating several buildings in the area, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fuel oil, and ensure stable energy costs (local wood) over time.
