On October 15, 2026, the DREAL Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes brought together 300 agricultural high school students at the Agronova campus for National Air Quality Day, to raise awareness about ozone pollution.

On the occasion of National Air Quality Day (JNQA), the DREAL Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes visited the Agronova campus on October 15, 2026. The objective was to educate 300 students from agricultural high schools in the region about the challenges of ozone pollution, through a participatory workshop and a specially designed board game.
Ozone, an invisible atmospheric pollutant formed by solar radiation from other pollutants emitted by transport, industry, and certain agricultural activities, has multiple consequences for human health, vegetation, agricultural yields, and forests. To address these issues, the DREAL developed an educational board game titled "Discovering Ozone," allowing students to understand its formation mechanisms, impacts, and solutions to limit its precursors.
The workshop also highlighted the role of the agricultural sector in improving air quality. Several concrete measures were presented to future farmers, such as covering slurry pits, valorizing livestock effluents through methanization, using less polluting agricultural machinery, and monitoring air quality on farms. The ambition is to enable future professionals to integrate these issues into their future practices.
This initiative is part of the Regional Ozone Plan, led by the DREAL Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, which aims to better understand and reduce this pollution by mobilizing regional stakeholders.
