On November 3, 2026, SYTRAL Mobilités approved new agreements to bolster support for shopkeepers and artisans affected by public transport works, particularly in Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Approved during the Board of Directors meeting on November 3, 2026, these agreements signify a concrete commitment to support shopkeepers and artisans during construction phases and to better anticipate the impacts of public transport projects on local economic activity. "The development of the TCL network is essential for the attractiveness of our territories, but it must not come at the expense of those who make them live daily. Works can cause difficulties for our shopkeepers and artisans. Our responsibility is to anticipate them, limit their consequences, and deploy concrete measures for the professionals concerned," explained Véronique Sarselli, president of the Metropolis of Lyon and SYTRAL Mobilités. She added: "It is also about making mobility development a lever for economic vitality serving our businesses."
SYTRAL Mobilités intends to amplify its actions in informing residents, maintaining access to shops, and processing compensation requests, leveraging the complementary expertise of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Lyon Métropole Saint-Étienne Roanne and the Chamber of Trades and Crafts (CMA) Lyon-Rhône. This cooperation has already been successfully tested in Vaulx-en-Velin for Tram Line T9 and is planned for Saint-Fons for Tram Line T10.
Initial studies conducted with the CCI, particularly on the extension of Metro Line B in Oullins, highlight how the location of metro entrances and exits influences purchasing journeys. This underscores the importance of involving local commerce stakeholders from the project design phase. In 2027, the cooperation will focus on the action plan for shopkeepers along the T8 tramway project and potentially line TB12, as well as the strategy for developing businesses within the metro system. SYTRAL Mobilités will also participate in the CCI's 12th consumer survey.
These agreements, valid until December 31, 2029, will result in an annual action plan co-developed with the two chambers.
