The City of Lyon is maintaining and adapting its security measures after numerous incidents on October 17th and 24th. Municipal agents have worked to restore damaged sites and protect public buildings.
A demonstration declared by the unions Solidaires, CNT, and UNEF is authorized for Saturday, October 31st, at 2:00 PM, starting from the Manufacture des Tabacs and heading to Place Jean Macé. The unions have committed to increasing their security personnel.
By decree of October 29th, the Prefect of the Rhône prohibits all vindictive demonstrations, processions, or gatherings in a large area of the city center on Saturday, October 31st, from 10 AM to 11 PM. Public order maintenance is the responsibility of the Rhône Prefecture and the National Police.
The City has increased the presence of the municipal police in shopping streets, doubling night-time staff, and is securing its buildings and construction sites. About a hundred companies have received safety instructions.
District town halls will remain open during usual hours. The Jean-Macé and Guillotière libraries will close at 1:00 PM, as will the Centre d'Histoire de la Résistance et de la Déportation at 4:00 PM, due to their proximity to the authorized demonstration perimeter. Cemeteries will be open and secured.
