On Friday, October 9, 2026, the Lyon Sud campus of Lyon 1 Claude Bernard University hosted the first Post-Graduate Midwifery Day (JPU), gathering over 80 professionals and students to discuss current perinatal care challenges.

Led by the ALBUM association, which unites midwifery educators from Lyon and Bourg-en-Bresse, this event was organized in partnership with Lyon 1 Claude Bernard University, the Hospices Civils de Lyon, the Centre hospitalier de Bourg-en-Bresse, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.
Opened by Bruno Lina, President of Lyon 1 University, and Laurent Gaucher, director of midwifery training, the day facilitated discussions among professionals, educators, researchers, and scholars.
The program notably addressed topics such as vaccination during pregnancy, sport and pregnancy, endocrine disruptors, and contemporary changes in birth rates through a panel discussion combining medical, psychological, and sociological approaches. The day also highlighted the work of recent graduates and the ongoing transformation of midwifery studies.
This inaugural JPU exemplifies the collaborative dynamic between the Lyon Sud and Bourg-en-Bresse sites and the development of midwifery within Lyon 1 University, in anticipation of its full university status on September 1, 2027.
