For the second consecutive year, Eau du Grand Lyon is renewing the Solidarity Water Payment (VSE). This financial aid aims to limit the burden of water bills for the most precarious households in the metropolis of Lyon. If water costs exceed 3% of a household's financial resources, the household is automatically eligible for the VSE. Letters were sent to beneficiaries in early October, concerning 62,000 households.
Established in 2025 by the Métropole de Lyon and Eau du Grand Lyon, the VSE supports the most low-income households in the region. The objective is to cap water costs at a maximum of 3% of the household's budget.
Beneficiaries do not need to take any action. The VSE is awarded automatically based on resources declared to the CAF (Family Allowance Fund) or MSA (Agricultural Social Mutual Fund) and the number of people in the household.
The allocated amount ranges between €10 and €120 per year. For example, an eligible household of 4 people will receive an average of €103. The payment will be automatically made from late November to the bank account known to the CAF or MSA services.
For Eau du Grand Lyon subscribers who owe at least one water bill for over 6 months, the Solidarity Water Payment will be deducted directly from the amounts due.
