Residents of Puy-de-Dôme are invited to participate in a campaign to measure radon, an odorless and colorless gas that can pose health risks if present in high concentrations in homes. This initiative aims to raise awareness and prevent dangers associated with this gas, which is particularly prevalent during the heating season.
The campaign, running throughout November, is organized by Rénov’actions63, in partnership with the DREAL Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the ARS, and the ADIL 63. Measurement kits, known as dosimeters, are provided free of charge to individuals.
To participate, simply collect a dosimeter by appointment from Rénov’actions63 services. Local drop-in sessions are held at the Espace France Services Entre Dore et Allier in Lezoux. Appointments can be made by phone at 04 73 42 30 72 or online at www.renovactions63.fr.
Once placed in a main living area for a minimum of two months, especially during winter when ventilation is reduced, the dosimeter should be mailed for laboratory analysis. Each participant will receive their results and tailored recommendations if simple corrective actions, such as aeration or sealing, are necessary.
Rénov’actions63 is a free and independent public service, supported by the Department of Puy-de-Dôme and intercommunalities, assisting homeowners with their renovation projects.
