The Municipality of Villars is launching a public consultation to gather voters' opinions on public lighting schedules, with a vote scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2027.

Following various deliberations concerning the shutdown and subsequent reactivation of public lighting, the Municipality of Villars has decided to consult its residents. The aim is to modify the operating procedures for communal public lighting, particularly through a partial nighttime shutdown.
The consultation for voter opinion, a procedure provided for by the Code Général des Collectivités Territoriales and the Electoral Code, aims to involve residents in a decision that directly concerns them. Only individuals registered on the electoral lists of Villars before December 31, 2026, will be able to participate.
The question submitted to the vote will be: 'Do you approve a shutdown of public lighting from Sunday to Thursday between 00:00 and 5:30 AM and continuous lighting on Friday and Saturday nights?'. Voters will respond with 'YES' or 'NO'.
The vote will take place on Sunday, January 17, 2027, from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, in the commune's 7 usual polling stations. Voting will be secret, and proxy voting will be permitted. Results will be publicly announced after the count.
Information regarding the consultation's purpose will be disseminated through all municipal channels at least one month before the election. A propaganda envelope will be sent to all voters. The Municipal Council will review the consultation results to make a decision at its next session.
