This summer, significant separation works were carried out on Allée de Charlieu in Montbrison. This 5-month project has successfully separated the collection of wastewater from rainwater, with the goal of optimizing water management, preserving sanitation infrastructure, and protecting the environment.
The separation technique involves creating two distinct networks. The first, for domestic and industrial wastewater, transports it to a treatment plant before discharge into the natural environment. The second, for rainwater, collects and evacuates it to a natural outlet, bypassing the treatment plant. This separation aims to prevent sewage treatment plants from being overloaded during heavy rainfall, reduce the risk of wastewater overflows into the environment, and limit flooding.
The work, undertaken by companies Sade and Cholton, extended to Michel Portier street and allée Maréchal de Vaux. This project, costing €895,000 HT, adhered to a tight schedule to minimize traffic disruptions on this busy route. The road was cleared just before the Tour de France Femmes on August 6th, and final road surface repairs were completed at the end of August, before the start of the school year.
