The official inauguration took place at the Maison de l'intercommunalité, attended by elected officials, representatives from the Isère Prefecture, and partners. This initiative aims to connect people needing to travel with volunteer drivers ready to provide concrete assistance, ensuring no one is prevented from essential journeys due to a lack of solutions.
This project is part of the intercommunal council's priority for healthy aging, a significant concern for the approximately 30% of residents over 60. Mobility is a key factor in improving the quality of life for seniors and combating isolation.
Launched on September 21st, the solidarity on-demand transport addresses a real need in this rural area. It facilitates access to medical appointments, shops, and daily errands, while also contributing to social connection.
The service has already gained traction, with 38 drivers registered and initial trips completed, aligning with broader challenges of mobility in rural and mountain areas, access to services, and combating isolation.
