The artistic installation "Les Demoiselles des sables", created by Victoria Klotz, will be officially inaugurated on Monday, October 19th at 5:30 PM within the Arboretum Ruffier-Lanche, a space dedicated to the biodiversity of the Saint-Martin-d'Hères campus.
This artwork references the consequences of climate change, particularly in mountainous areas where warming is faster. It highlights the impact of reduced snowfall on alpine animal and plant species, a phenomenon that has already led to a 2°C warming in the Alps over 100 years, reducing annual snow cover duration by an average of 40 days over fifty years.
Victoria Klotz explains that her installation, funded by Opération Campus, consists of sediment towers topped with stone blocks, on which animal sculptures are perched. It symbolizes movement, erosion, and state changes, reflecting the climate's balance and its effect on snow-dependent fauna.
Public reception is planned under the best conditions. Registration is required before October 8th, 2026 via an online form. The program will begin at 5:30 PM with an introductory word, followed by the artist's presentation of the work, official speeches, and the unveiling of the installation. A cocktail reception will be offered from 6:15 PM.
Information collected during registration is processed by the UGA Communication Department for event organization and will be kept for a maximum of two months. Participants have rights of access, rectification, and opposition in accordance with the GDPR.
