In Échirolles, municipal parks, soon joined by the Ouest/Géo Charles and Robert Buisson parks, serve as LPO refuges where professionals and volunteers from the League for the Protection of Birds ensure the quality and cleanliness of birdhouses for wild fauna.

The period from mid-September to mid-November is ideal for birdhouse maintenance, following nesting season and preceding hibernation for species like the garden dormouse. These refuges cater to various birds, from classic blue tit houses to those adapted for treecreepers.
The birdhouses are made of wood, as well as wood-concrete, a carbon-neutral option with a lifespan of over thirty years.
Special thanks are extended to Amandine, LPO refuge project manager in Isère, and her colleague Esteban, for their dedication. Gratitude also goes to two residents from the Granges neighborhood, Anne-Marie, coordinator for the LPO refuge at Maurice-Thorez park, and her colleague Isabelle, for their volunteer commitment.
We look forward to seeing the cozy nests prepared by the bird couples of the beautiful Maurice-Thorez park after winter.
