Due to a significant increase in traffic and speeding incidents on Boulevard du Golf, the city of Publier has installed three chicanes to slow down motorists and improve safety.

Boulevard du Golf, a nearly 2-kilometer straight stretch between the main town and the heights of Evian, has seen a substantial rise in traffic in recent years. Data from speed display signs indicates a 64% increase in average daily traffic between 2020 and 2025, from 2800 to 4500 vehicles. These signs also corroborate numerous complaints from residents about excessive speeds, with nearly 9% of drivers exceeding 60 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, and some going over 80 km/h. Recent accidents involving injuries and material damage have also been attributed to inappropriate driving behavior.
To reduce speed in this residential area and ensure the safety of all road users, the municipality has had three chicanes installed by municipal services, limiting speeds to 30 km/h, near intersections and pedestrian crossings. This cost-effective measure is temporary while a permanent solution is studied to limit speeding and facilitate soft mobility options.
After two weeks of observation, adjustments were made to the chicanes to allow larger vehicles (trucks, buses) to maneuver and to enhance pedestrian safety. The services are now studying the implementation of a speed table and a secure bus stop at Senaillet, also on Boulevard du Golf.
