This weekend, the Halles du Chomeil in Saint-Paulien buzzed with the avicultural exhibition, hosting over 700 animals and 80 breeders from across France. The event, focused on discovery and sharing, allowed some 500 visitors to explore the diversity of breeds and interact with passionate breeders.

Flamboyant plumage, long-eared rabbits, and iridescent pigeons captivated the audience. The exhibition showcased the variety of domestic fowl, from the most familiar to the most unusual breeds. Visitors also had the opportunity to delve into the world of racing pigeons and pigeon fancying.
The French Championship for the Belgian Hare Rabbit and several regional and inter-regional challenges highlighted the patient work of the breeders. These individuals dedicate months to caring for and preparing their animals in the hope of winning a title.
The Société d’Aviculture du Velay, its president Alexandre Buisson, the approximately forty mobilized volunteers, and the breeders were commended for their efforts in preserving breeds and transmitting their expertise. The presence of visitors was also appreciated.
The city of Le Puy-en-Velay and the Communauté d’agglomération du Puy-en-Velay recognized two passionate breeders. The Grand Prix de la Ville du Puy-en-Velay was awarded in the Rabbit category, while the Grand Prix de la Communauté d’agglomération du Puy-en-Velay honored the Poultry category.
