The Communauté d’agglomération du Puy-en-Velay continues its investments to enhance the security of its 26 business zones and support law enforcement efforts. In Saint Germain Laprade / Blavozy, the primary business zone in Haute Loire, hosting 132 companies and employing 2,400 people, the video surveillance system installed in 2013 has recently been modernized. This investment of €57,000 included the installation of 8 new cameras and the replacement of a recording server.
The new equipment offers improved performance, especially at night. Each camera features two sensors: one for an overview and another for a more precise image of vehicles. This technology allows for simultaneous coverage of multiple lanes. For instance, on the RN88 bridge, 2 cameras now replace 6 older units. A license plate recognition system will also be operational soon.
This project was developed with the support of the Gendarmerie of Saint Julien Chapteuil. Their local knowledge was crucial in defining the optimal access points and areas to cover, aiming to provide clearer images that are easier to consult and utilize in investigations.
The agglomeration's commitment extends across the territory; over a third of the 26 business zones are already equipped. With planned installations in Tourettes, Rosières, and Cros de la Gare, in Saint Vincent, the system will comprise 47 cameras by the end of the year.
In Saint Germain Laprade / Blavozy, this modernization is part of a total budget of nearly €235,000 invested over 3 years to improve the zone, covering pathways, fire defense, and public lighting. This initiative receives support from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region at 50% and the State at 30%.
