The City of Tain-l'Hermitage relaunches the "J'peux pas, j'ai cantine" operation on November 07, 2026, an intergenerational initiative bringing seniors and children together for shared meals at the Jean Moulin school cafeteria.

The "J'peux pas, j'ai cantine" operation, relaunched by the City of Tain-l'Hermitage on November 07, 2026, aims to create a strong bond between generations. It invites local seniors and grandparents of students enrolled in the town's schools to share a monthly meal at the canteen of the Jean Moulin elementary and kindergarten school with the children.
This initiative allows the town's elderly residents to share special moments with the younger generation, fostering the transmission of local and family history. It is part of a virtuous approach to combat loneliness and isolation among seniors, while enriching children with valuable life stories.
Each month, themed meals will be offered, covering various topics such as school memories, past holidays, professions, or passions. Scheduled dates include Friday, November 07, 2026 (Our school memories), Friday, December 04, 2026 (Our holiday memories), Tuesday, March 02, 2026 (Jobs and passions), and Friday, April 30, 2026 (Our happy memories).
To facilitate participation, the Municipality provides the town's minibus. Interested seniors can meet at 11 AM in the parking lot in front of the town hall (2 avenue Président Roosevelt) or benefit from a personalized pick-up service at their home. Return is scheduled around 2 PM.
Registration is open to seniors and grandparents of students from Tain's schools. For registrations concerning grandparents, it is necessary to provide the child's full name, their class, and the desired restaurant if attending both kindergarten and elementary school. The registration form can be downloaded and submitted to the CCAS. The meal cost is €6.65. Places are limited to 8 participants per meal, with registration required 10 days in advance.
