On September 22, 2026, the Porte de DrômArdèche community council convened under the presidency of Florent Brunet. Several topics were on the agenda, including agriculture, ecological transition, sanitation, and employment.
Within the framework of its GEMAPI competence (Management of Aquatic Environments and Flood Prevention), the community of communes is partnering with the Drôme Department to preserve the wetlands of Saint-Barthélemy-de-Vals, specifically the Marais des Vernais and the Grand Marais. Ludwig Montagne, Vice-President for Ecological Transition, explained that these sites, covering approximately 60 hectares, are crucial for biodiversity and water regulation. The council approved their integration into the departmental network of Sensitive Natural Areas (ENS). A three-year support agreement will enhance knowledge of the environments, continue preservation and restoration efforts, and facilitate public access.
Philippe Becheras, Vice-President for Rivers and Sanitation, presented the updated sanitation works program. This revised plan, developed in consultation with the communes, addresses evolving needs until 2029. Works will focus on rehabilitating networks and separating wastewater from rainwater, primarily in the communes of Anneyron, Saint-Uze, Saint-Barthélemy-de-Vals, Laveyron, and Claveyson.
The 2030 Agricultural Strategy, led by David Bouvier, Vice-President for Water Resources and Agriculture, prioritizes adaptation to climate change. The community of communes is strengthening its water management actions by partnering with the « ORAGE » project, based on regenerative hydrology. This initiative aims to improve soil water retention and reduce risks of drought and erosion, while maintaining farm productivity. The council approved signing an agreement with Vegepolys Valley to acquire measurement equipment, with an estimated investment of €70,000 excluding tax. Funding will be sought from the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR).
Finally, the partnership with France Travail for the « Objectif Emploi » program has been renewed for three years. Spearheaded by Yohann Perrin, Vice-President for Employment and Mobility, this initiative facilitates connections between job seekers and local businesses. The agreement maintains a 80% France Travail advisor position within the community of communes.
