CM1 pupils from the Gilbert Pestre school in Bourg-lès-Valence undertook concrete actions for biodiversity, including building and installing birdhouses, as part of a partnership with the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO).

On Tuesday, October 13th, CM1 pupils from the Gilbert Pestre school presented the work carried out as part of the partnership between the City of Bourg-lès-Valence and the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO). This initiative follows the recent greening of their schoolyard.
Since the start of the school year, the pupils have participated in three half-day sessions focused on exploring local biodiversity. They learned to identify various wild plant and animal species present in their immediate surroundings, thereby deepening their understanding of biodiversity's essential role and the importance of green spaces in urban areas for fauna and flora.
During this final meeting, the pupils shared their discoveries and projects. They also installed birdhouses that they had made themselves, actively contributing to providing shelter for birds within their school environment.
This educational approach aims to familiarize children with the surrounding nature and encourage them to participate, at their own level, in its preservation.
