The town of Murat vibrated to the rhythm of Pink October on Saturday, October 10th, gathering over 300 participants for a day dedicated to cancer prevention and awareness.

From October 1st, Murat was adorned in pink, with the facade of the Town Hall and the basalt formations of the Rocher de Bonnevie illuminated each evening. The highlight of this mobilization took place on Saturday, October 10th, with a start from the town hall's forecourt for a 7.8-kilometer circuit. Runners and walkers took to the recently inaugurated "voie douce" (gentle path) between the Murat campsite and Chambeuil.
The day was filled with activities. The morning focused on prevention and screening through workshops led by Dr. Martine Boussuge. The afternoon featured sports with collective classes in boxing, stretching, and street dance, provided by coaches from Muratonik, Cervus Impact Muratais, and Gym Volontaire. The firefighters and the association Cornets de Murat sold pink crepes and ice cream cones. Aquagym also participated with an aquazumba class.
In parallel, several sporting events supported the cause: the first team of the USM played against Issoire in the Laura foot cup, and the HBCM faced Yzeure at the municipal gymnasium. The proceeds from these three sporting events, as well as from the pink ball organized by the OCAM at the Halle, will be fully donated to the cause.
Prior to the event, the municipality offered a cinema screening of the Catalan film "Viva", which addresses cancer, and a solidarity day was held at the local college and high school.
The funds raised will be distributed to four local associations involved in the fight against cancer and supporting affected individuals: Cant’al cœur 15, Des filles de Liens, Loisirs GV Cantal, and the Ligue contre le Cancer. An official donation ceremony will be organized soon at the town hall.
