The screening of the film "Ardèche", offered free of charge in Soyons on Friday, October 16th at 6 PM, was a great success, filling the Salle des Fêtes. Among the attendees were Olivier Amrane, President of the Departmental Council, Hervé Coulmont, Mayor of Soyons, along with numerous elected officials and municipal agents.
Hervé Coulmont highlighted the connections established with Ilyos Media since their arrival in Soyons. The directors, John Dauvin and Gabriel Campina, recounted the film's genesis, thanked those who contributed to its creation and success, and recalled their journey from India and Brazil to settling in Ardèche. The film, which has already drawn approximately 10,000 viewers, presents their perspective on the region they chose to call home.
The film explores Ardèche through 3,500 km of footage, showcasing the landscapes of the Monts d’Ardèche, its rivers, villages, and the sincere testimonials of locals proud of their territory. It depicts local life, from cafes and restaurants to markets, village festivals, local cuisine, and sports activities, particularly cycling, which is prevalent in the region.
“"there is always someone pedaling somewhere"
The directors immerse themselves in local activities, participating in kayaking, cycling, and hot air ballooning, pruning olive trees, preparing local dishes, and toasting and singing along with the people they meet. The film is described as the work of two image professionals, driven by "love that gives meaning to everything else," as a Brel song accompanying the film's end suggests.
Following the screening, John Dauvin and Gabriel Campina presented Hervé Coulmont with a signed and framed poster of the film for the Municipality, which will soon be displayed in the Town Hall lobby. Attendees then shared their impressions at the refreshment stand managed by the Pétanque Soyonnaise, concluding an evening praised by the organizers and elected officials present.
