The Entr’Allier Besbre et Loire Community of Communes officially launched the Besbre Territory Agreement 2026-2028 on Thursday, October 1st, in Trézelles, a three-year program aimed at preserving water resources and aquatic environments.

In the presence of Mr. Fabrice Maridet, President of the Community of Communes, Jean-Pierre Morvan, director of the upstream Allier-Loire delegation of the Loire-Bretagne Water Agency, and numerous partners, elected officials, local stakeholders, and project owners, this agreement marks the beginning of an extended three-year collaboration. The objective is to unite efforts for the preservation of water resources, the restoration of aquatic environments, and the enhancement of knowledge of the Besbre watershed.
This ambitious roadmap includes concrete actions for the ecological continuity of watercourses, the restoration of their morphology, the preservation of wetlands, the reduction of pollution sources through hedge planting, as well as communication and awareness initiatives for local stakeholders.
The program covers a territory of 768 km², including 969 km of watercourses across 55 municipalities in the departments of Allier and Loire. The projected investment amounts to €2.07 million net of tax.

This development will allow fish to cross the dam and access habitats upstream, thus contributing to restoring the ecological continuity of the Besbre.

On the occasion of this launch, participants also discovered the construction site of a fish ladder at the Trézelles dam. This structure, composed of 9 successive basins, will allow fish to cross the dam and access upstream habitats, thereby contributing to restoring the ecological continuity of the Besbre. Initiated on September 17, 2026, this project represents an investment of €293,189 net of tax, with 80% public funding. This operation concretely illustrates the actions to be taken within the framework of the Territory Agreement.
