This innovative scheme aims to support homeowners facing risks associated with variations in clay soil moisture, which can weaken foundations and cause cracks in homes, a problem exacerbated by repeated drought episodes. The goal is to intervene proactively to prevent significant structural damage.
The fund offers a two-phase support program. The first phase involves study and diagnosis, where a qualified professional assesses the home's vulnerability and proposes solutions. This diagnosis is subsidized between 70% and 90% based on household income. The second phase covers preventive work, such as managing rainwater or waterproofing foundations. Financial aid, ranging from 50% to 80% of the work cost, is available, with an eligible expense ceiling set at €14,000 excluding tax.
To be eligible, the property must be the owner-occupier's main residence, located in a high-risk zone for clay shrinkage and swelling (RGA), covered by home insurance, completed at least 15 years ago, not semi-detached, and with no cracks exceeding 5 mm in width. Income ceilings must also be met. Households undergoing natural disaster compensation procedures are not eligible.
