Nearly a hundred people participated on Saturday, September 26th, in Péronnas, in the second edition of “Water Festival!”, an event organized to better understand water-related issues and meet local stakeholders.

The day began with a conference by Simon Porcher, economist and co-director of the Water Economy Institute, titled “Water, a Common Good Under Pressure?”. He addressed tensions surrounding resource sharing and the challenges of more sustainable water management.
The water forum brought together five organizations: Grand Bourg Agglomération, the Syndicat Reyssouze et Affluents, the Ligue pour la protection des oiseaux (LPO), Tom Cordier, and the CPIE Bugey Genevois. Visitors could discuss their actions concerning the water cycle, aquatic biodiversity, and mosquitoes.
In the Rena forest, a visit by the Office national des forêts (ONF) allowed 25 participants to discover the links between forests and water, as well as ditch management.
Tom Cordier offered an interactive walk on the water cycle, revealing that our daily water footprint is estimated at around 4,900 liters per person. An escape game focused on building a more sustainable world completed the program, encouraging reflection on the consequences of daily choices.
Through “Water Festival!”, the partners of the Contrat Eau & Climat aim to raise awareness about water issues and local actions to preserve water resources and aquatic environments. This second edition facilitated further exchanges between elected officials, partners, and the public.
