The City of Belley welcomed a delegation of 23 Irish high school students from Monaghan, from October 11 to 17, 2026, as part of the Erasmus+ program. The exchange aims to foster cultural and sports discovery.

A delegation of 23 Irish high school students, accompanied by two teachers, was welcomed at the town hall of Belley on Tuesday, October 13. Hailing from Monaghan, these first-year students are participating in an Erasmus+ European exchange program running from October 11 to 17, 2026.
During their stay, the young people are hosted by Belley host families and are taking part in various activities. The program includes interactive classes and introductions to sports such as Gaelic football, handball, climbing, ultimate frisbee, and boule lyonnaise. A biathlon day is also scheduled at Les Plans d’Hotonnes.
The cultural and sports exchanges will continue with a visit to a handball match in Chambéry. The students will also have the opportunity to share moments with their host families, thereby strengthening connections between young people and fostering openness to another culture.
In return, high school students from Belley will travel to Monaghan, Ireland, in March 2027 to continue this European exchange.
